If you love stuffed animals with big innocent brown eyes that will make your heart melt, then you will love PADDINGTON. Paddington is based on the classic children’s book, A Bear Called Paddington by Michael Bond. The story takes you on a journey of a young bear (voiced by Ben Whishaw) who leaves his home which was destroyed by an earthquake and  he also leaves behind his widowed elderly Aunt Lucy (Imelda Staunton) who lost her husband  Uncle Pastuzo (Michael Gambon) in the earthquake.

Paddington’s Aunt Lucy encourages him to travel from Peru to London in search of a new home and a new family. He travels with a suitcase, a red hat, jars of marmalade and a marmalade sandwich to be eaten in times of emergencies. The red hat had special meaning because it was given to Paddington’s uncle from an explorer who was sent to collect a specimen from the rare species of bears. But, instead he became quite fond of the animals and gave Uncle Pastuzo his red hat as a token. He also extended a generous offer to look him up if ever he was in London.

Paddington remembers the story of the explorer as he stows away on boat on his way to London. While in the train station in hopes to meet a family he is approach by Mrs. Brown (Sally Hawkins). She offers to give him a place to stay for the night in hopes to find him a permanent family the following day.  Mr. Brown (Hugh Bonneville) is reluctant to bring an unknown bear into the home but at the request of his wife he agrees and arranges to increase his home owners insurances just in case there were mishaps during Paddington’s brief stay.

Paddington who was not accustom to human living and manages to flood the bathroom, miss use tooth brushes and even be accused of setting a fire in the Brown’s home. The Brown family tries to help Paddington find the explorer who gave his uncle to red hat and in the midst he manages to stop a pickpocket. Soon Paddington would find himself in bit of pickle as he is unaware that he is the target of bear napping.  Paddington is kidnapped by a cruel, cold taxidermist (Nicole Kidman) who is determined to settle some unfinished business.

Paddington is a delightful story of love, acceptance and a true meaning of family. The movie will resonate with all ages and teaches life lessons and manners in subtle way to be understood by all. You will walk away being a little nicer and a little kinder to your fellowman.

Paddington is now playing in U.S. theaters nationwide. 1hr 35min. Rated PG for mild action and rude humor.
